About Suriname Decentralized

Suriname, Reintroduced.

Suriname Decentralized began as an event.
Today, it is evolving into a long-term platform focused on repositioning Suriname internationally through culture, nature, community and innovation.

What started as a gathering around Bitcoin and decentralization has grown into a broader vision: creating global attention for Suriname as an emerging ecosystem with its own identity, rhythm and potential.

Bitcoin was never intended to be the entire story.
It became the entry point.

The deeper mission has always been about Suriname itself.

Our Vision

Suriname Decentralized exists to help introduce Suriname to a new generation of builders, creators, entrepreneurs, travelers and long-term partners looking beyond traditional global centers.

We believe Suriname represents something increasingly rare:

  • Cultural depth
  • Natural abundance
  • Community connection
  • Space to think and build differently

In a world moving faster and becoming more centralized, Suriname offers a different kind of environment. One where innovation, culture and human connection can still develop organically.

Our goal is to help create the conditions for that ecosystem to grow.

How It Started

Suriname Decentralized was founded by Maya Parbhoe, a Surinamese entrepreneur, technology advocate and founder of Daedalus Labs. Maya has become internationally known for her work around Bitcoin adoption, decentralization and innovation-driven development in Suriname.

Her vision emerged from a larger question:

How can Suriname participate more actively in the future global economy while preserving its identity, independence and culture?

Over the years, Maya has advocated for financial innovation, digital infrastructure and entrepreneurship in Suriname while connecting the country to international innovation networks and Bitcoin communities. She has also been involved in initiatives connected to entrepreneurial ecosystem development, including participation in MIT REAP-related efforts for Suriname.

This eventually led to the creation of Suriname Decentralized:
a platform where conversations around technology, culture, tourism, education and innovation could intersect.
